Wiring that goes through lower intake on 22re..??

Alright, I am taking the lower part of the intake manifold off and the engine wiring harness goes through it. How should I go about getting this part of the manifold off without having to disconnect all the wiring that goes down by the tranny..etc..

..or where does all that wiring go? and should i just disconnect it all?

by the way is is a 93 pickup w/the 22re

I don't know about that year, but on my 87, the only way was to disconnect all the plugs, and let it slip down through as I lifter the manifold out. Kind of a pain, even more putting it back together, but it's the only way I could see. It's not as bad as you might think, because most of the plugs/connectors are set up so they either on reach/go onto only one matching connector, or they're color coded, or both. The only real ones that are totally interchangeable seem to be the injector plugs, and I just numbered those with a Sharpie as I took them off. Probably redundant, as they seem to reach only one injector, but I wanted to be certain I didn't mix up #2 &#3, or something like that. No big deal.

I cut the lower intake manifold where the harness went through. It was like a 1" x 1" piece I took out, it didn't spring or anything like that when I cut it.

i just did a top end job on a 95 22RE and the wires you talk about are the : Reverse switch, Neutral safety switch, Oxygen sensor 1, Oxygen sensor 2 and maybe one or two more.

Like stated above they are laid out in a way that when unplugged it is impossible to plug them back in wrong because the wires exit the harness in locations that are next to what they plug into.

Some of the connectors are a pain to remove but its still only takes 10 minuets to do the job.
