wireless winch remote ?
hey does anyone have any experience with these? I think Ramsey is the only one who makes one, but I heard they work for any winch... any input is appreciated!

Milemarker makes one as well.

I just made up a wired in cab remote since it was cheaper and I wouldn't have to pull out the big cable and remote unless I need to be out in front of the bumper. I think that a wireless remote control is cool though. I almost took someone out at the auto shop when my incab remote got shorted on a screw sitting on the carpet, started the winch, and shot one of my towhooks across the room nearly hitting someone in the head! (Note to self: Keep winch power disconnected unless needed!)

The wireless controllers are great for convenience sake and certainly rate high on the cool scale, but you lose some of the fine adjustment that comes with a hand controller. For occasional simple pulls it can be great, but there is no way I would use one to right a flopped vehicle or where there could be catastrophic effects from lack of that fine control.

Yep, I have the Ramsey one as seen by the write-up that Ryan linked you to.
I dig it, it's slick.
I found that there is not really any delay in using it over the regular "wired" remote.
A wireless one is not a "must have unit," but it's high on the cool factor.
You can see it in action from a snow run a few seasons back.
Look for the vids of me pulling Matt out.
By the way, that was the first trip out with my winch, and it saved the day.
It would have been very hard to have yanked him out with a yanker strap, as he was buried pretty good up front.
The winch made it very easy.
I do carry the wired remote also in my Warn equipment bag for backup.
Ramsey has a good vid on their site of it too, or at least they use to.

I'd like to get a wireless remote but the biggest concern I have is if there is something interfering/blocking the wireless signal. Do you need to continuously hold down the button to keep the drum turning? Do you think the wired remote is more reliable?
