Winch Trouble!
Hey there all,
I just bought a winch! Found it on sale!!! Now I just need to mount it! Any suggestions? As usual there is a $ concern! I was thinking of cutting through the front sub bumper (?) of my 89 P/U and bolting some angle stock up. Anybody done it? Have any picks? Wanna sell me an ARB Bull Bar for cheap? Or have any ideas or leads on a winch mount?

I would get a genuine bumper made for a winch, as it will add more protection to the rig.
Which winch model did you get?
If it's an "i" series by Warn, it will not fit an ARB or TJM bumper, as they require a winch that has the solenoid pack (non "i" model) not part of the winch.
Have you gawked at Badland Bumpers designs?

Killer stuff, and made by a true PNW off roader.
This is the bumper that seafarinman has on his Extracab.
You will see his maroon truck in the pics here.

Any good bumper for up front though is going to run you between $600 & $700.
But they are a good investment.
Many though have made a winch mount for a front receiver up front.
A guy with a T100 did it to his rig.
I don't have the URL, but some of the T100 owners on here know who I am talking about.

Cory,
Thanks for the info. The winch is an off brand 8000# that greatly resembles a Warn M8000 (w/o the W)!!! All the electrics are portable and can be relocated off the mount with ease!
thanks for the links though!
If any body is interested I think I can get more of them!
8000#
12V
12' remote
100' x 3/8" cabble
hook
fairlead
and mounting tray (for what its worth)
I would get a pic but the camera is at the office at the moment!
Oh yea, if your interested and I can get them then they are $400 + S&H with a 15 month guarantee (the weigh 84#'s ea so shipping will probably cost a little, though i may be able to get a flat rate!)
If your interested let me know!

Would they happen to be these?

I got an email this morning from some guy selling winches from Taiwan, and I converted the email into a webpage.
Clicking on one of the pics will take you to their site.
You may get prompted to download new fonts for Chinese fonts, just hit the cancel button.

Your winch description sounds a lot like my Milemarker E8000 winch. I wonder if it is the same just marketed under a different brand.

I think that if you want to forgo the 12mo warrenty then you can get it for +/- $350 +S&H!!! (there is still a 90 day warrenty)

Thanks Cebby. I actually had a set of Yakima Plus-nut top loader brackets bolted onto my cab yesterday, so I can move my roof rack and basket (without the extension) onto the cab of the truck and play "topless" every once in a while, while still maintaining all my capabilities. It has been almost 3 years since I have driven the truck without the canopy!
