Will this kill my battery?

Well my friend broke my antenna yesterday. Now my antenna won't go completely up. It makes the motor noise. And to put the antenna down i have to push it about 4 inchies till it will go down by itself. Until i replace my antenna would leaving it all the way up kill my battery? I just want to make sure.

Nope, it uses a mechanical latch to stay up.

You might want to remove the mast asap before the teeth break off inside of the antenna motor.

It's not a big deal if that does happen but you'll have to take the antenna motor apart. Don't ask me how I know.

Just remove the nut on top with a screwdriver or long nose pliers.
Turn your radio ON, and as the motor works to push up the antenna pull it all the way out.

Then you can order a new mast or go with the favorite taco whip mod in this forum.

Antenna mast Have your friend give you a $20 spot and order a mast from here. If your geared nylon cord is broken you might have to remove the little motor in the fender well to replace it.

Good luck, Thomas
