You left out this part:

Cons: Spotty build quality, cheesy interior parts, uncomfortable rear seats, no V8 option.

Here is report on 4-Runner:

Cons: Hard to climb in and out of, dated dashboard design, weak V6 engine, truck-like ride quality and handling.

None of the above are to do with lack
of quality construction. And I bought mine for the truck-like ride and handling.
I would rather have a dated dashboard
than a cheesy interior!

yes, I didn't mean choose the Grand Cherokee, I meant choose it on the link, it will save you money, if you see their rating is BAD!!!!

That must ave been a joke post, just to get us all going and smashing JEEP(Just Empty Every Pocket). I have so many friends that all drive Jeeps and they love them, except from having them up on a jack every weekend fixing something. They get pissed on the fact that they wouldmuch rather be on the trails and not stuck in the garage on they're days off. Sad, sad, sadif you ask me. I have never had my 4Runner in for anything, aside from a ticking sound, that was coming from my mud covered torque converter, gee what could I have been doing while all my Jeep buds were laying up under their rigs, hmmmm . Get a 4Runner, if not only b/c it's a 4Runner but just becuase it's a Toyota, and when it comes to value(long and short term) and reliability(mostly long term) Toyota kicks Jeep's a$$.

My wife and I have two 4-Runners; 94SR5 and a 98 limited. I'll try to compare these with a Grand Cherokee. I've had zero problems with the two Runners with 197,000 and 116,000 miles. I know four people with Jeeps GC's that have had numerous problems from transmissions, rear end, engine, etc. Other than mech. problems, I have a few things I've noticed riding in and sitting these vehicles side by side.
The Jeeps have a HUGE frame tunnel especially right under the dash by the drivers/passengers feet. The pedals are actually offset to miss. Chrysler has not changed this design from the old square Cherokees. What are they waiting for?
Passengers in the rear seats can't put there feet under the front seats because of the seat frame. This like the above problem has been carried on from the begining. It hasn't changed at all.
The seats (regular or plush leather) are VERY uncomfortable. These three things become very apparent on trips.
As far as offroading goes I think everyone will agree a Toyota will boldly go where no Jeep has gone before. Put a Jeep GC next to a 4-Runner and look under them from the back. The 4-Runner has a flat bottom with skid plates every where. The Jeep's gas tank hangs way down in a very bad spot. See how long it takes to dent that tank on departure. Also look at those shock brackets on the Jeep; they work great at catching rocks, fallen limbs, etc.
I could go on and on but that is some of the bigger things I've noticed.
