For the first time since I bought my 4Runner, I'm actually going to have a place that I'll live in for more than a year. I've moved four times since I graduated so it'll be nice not to have to move for a while. Check it out....



It's my first house so I'm pretty pumped about it. I close August 22 so the whole fiasco should be over soon. Later.

I looked for about six months. I wasn't as serious the first few months as I was the last few because I was paying down my credit card and working so many hours. As for the down payment, I didn't put down anything. I ended up doing an FHA step up loan which is actually two separate loans. The FHA program is a government sponsored program and I got a really good rate doing it (5.99%). There is a little bit of mortgage insurance with the program, but I was willing to pay it since it didn't require anything down and there is very little due at closing.

I bought at a new subdivision out I459. It's called Virginia Trace. It is right off exit 6 (Bessemer/Helena exit). Pretty close to everything in Hoover. I can be at that huge Walmart shopping center on 150 in about 7-8 minutes and at the Galleria in 10. Right now it's considered Bessemer, but there is talk of zoning it into Hoover next year. That would be awesome!

Congratulations! That is a pretty cool area. We are the same way. Everything around our neighborhood is considered Hoover, but we are considered North Shelby County. I am sure we will be anexed in before long.

Before you move in, you should paint your garage floor. You have to etch it first with muratic acid, so it is easier doing it before you put a bunch of stuff in there. There is a great place downtown that makes the paint for all the hangers at the airport. That is where I got mine.

 

wow, sounds good matt...the wierd thing is i just got started in the mortgage business and i am starting to look for a home and did you find the new subdivision on the net or just driving around? i would love to move into a new home but it's hard to find any around here..most of the homes i've looked at are between 20 to 30 years old and they cost a little more than what i'm willing to shell out for that square footage.. thanks again and good luck furnishing it!!!

It is Induron. I just talked to a contractor buddy of mine and he said that they make the same paint that Sherwin Williams has. We just did his basement floor a couple of weeks ago.
