95.5-2004 Tacomas & 96-2002 4Runners 4th gen pickups and 3rd gen 4Runners

Why does the 4Runner dominate this board?

I see all Toyotas as one and the same.
Does not matter if if is a pre Tacoma, Tacoma, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gen 4Runner.

They all share the same drive train for the same years, and info is cross compatible between them.

Now quit bothering me so I can get back to the Stargate Atlantis marathon on the Sci-Fi channel

I have a 4Runner, Because my dad owns an 88 Pick up Xtra cab. ANd I had driven it a few times and wanted one. But I was also looking for a truck with seating room and upgrade capabilities, in terms of off roading. I just happened to stumble apon this board when I was having issues with my alternator, and now I frequent it regularly. Its quite possibilty the best source going for info of all natures.

4Runner's rule because they have a propper name......4Runner.

pickups didn't really get a name until the Tacoma.

You can call em' Hilux....but then you're sinking to the level of a Canadian.
Just Kidding, eh.

Serioulsy though, I can't count the times I've made my Tacoma friends jealous when I have shelter from the wind and cold out in the desert. Nothing like watching your friends tent blow over from the comfort of your sealed vessel.

Or when the embers of the fire are getting blown into the bed where your bedding resides.

Besides have you seen an 84 or 85 SA in action. An Mpeg is worth a thousand words.

UhOh so her rent's found the 'raincoats?' Not good.....

This is why you keep the "raincoats" in the back pocket of either the driver's or passenger's seat....lol

that seat is awesome!

I had a X-cab Taco and it was sweet! In fact, I often kick myself for selling it. But, I wanted a 5-speed and I no longer wanted to subject my guests to the torture chamber.

After swapping in my locker and better gears, I can honestly say I like my 4Runner better than my Taco.

Well there are always caps for the trucks if camping out is your thing. I have one that I put on in winter to keep snow out of the bed and put weight over the rear wheels. I haven't gotten around to putting it on this year though...

Maybe it is a little jealousy on my part. I work at a used car dealer that sells only Toyota vehicles, and I've grown quite fond of the third gen 4Runners, particularly the Sport edition in black with the hood scoop.

I think this board serves the 4Runner community better. Whereas, TTORA serves the Tacoma community. And Tundra Solutions serves the Tundra community, TLCA the Land Cruiser community, etc.

The only reason I have a 4Runner is because the 89 pickup I was going to buy was wrecked while somebody else was testdriving it and i needed a car in 2 weeks. The next cool toyota that came up was my 4runner, $4000.

I bought a Tacoma because I've been down the SUV road before.

Plus, It's nice to roll down the window and throw your beer cans into the bed!

You only payed $4000 for your 4runner? That was a sweet deal. Mine was $5000 with tons of stuff wrong with it and it is a 91' (old front end worth considerably less on the market).
