thats my cam now. With this cam, any small vacuum leak is a bad vacuum leak. my engine only smooths out from the rough loping when i increase vacuum (higher idle). So now my idle sits at 1100-1300 rpm, when it should be, what, 700 rpm? Anyways, do these numbers seem alittle excessive? And, if so, anyone wanna buy a cam? suggestions, thoughts, rants, ANYTHING HELPS!! thanks!

is that the trd stage 1 cam? I had that same cam in my 90 truck. and yes it idled rougher than any car ive seen-- but it drove well. I just got used to the really rough idle and it never had a problem, btw, my truck idled at 700rpm even with the cam in place.

I just installed a crane cam with the same #'s. There is quite a bit to a cam install, first things first.... your new cam creates alot of extra air in the combustion chamber. So, you will have to compensate for this by adjusting your afm (quickest way). You will need to richen the mixture in there, probably your running towards the "lean side" now. Adjusting the valves to spec .008 int. & .010 on the exhaust, hopefully you used new rockers/ followers. Also are you running a header to increase your exhaust flow??? NGK's are the only way to go as far as sparks go and you might try advancing your timing a tad.... between 8 & 10 degrees worked for my set up. QUite a bit of fine tuning will yield pleasant results..trust me on this one!

One more thing, you were right about the vac leaks as well.. this will not have positive results. You may consider plugging your egr route to the intake... see lc engineering's web site for details!

well, ive got a hedman thats been extensively modified, and ill put new plugs in..their newer, just not to my liking. i messed with the afm once...and will never do it again iv'e learned from that one. Its actually from Johns Foreign Engines (http://22r.biz). Its the RV2 cam. But no new rockers/followers. No cash for that . Ive got my intake at .7 and exhaust at .10, i do believe. Just did it a month ago, hasnt been running since, but i did it right before i tore into the bottom end again. It runs, just absolutely no power, and all the wrong shift points (its an auto). as a matter of fact...it wont downshift after braking....
