I like the cool look of black.....however I picked up a set of polished alloy just because of the look I wanted to project for my business.

BBB could you be a little more specific. I think it depends on which wheels you are looking at.

I second Cebby, we need more info to be able to help. The decision can also depend on what you want to get out of your rig.

For example, if you do a lot of trail runs, then a chrome rim is gonna "show the trail" a lot more than a black rim. The black may scratch up, but it's easily covered up. When the chrome scratches and dings, it's gonna be ugly.

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my chrome rim and I must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black.

gotta love the Stones

Ive always had polished alloys. I didn't know there were so many different types of black rims out there. What I was basically looking at is the "look" of polished alloy or black rims. I think ive heard the term "bead lock" but not sure what it is.

if you don't know what bead locks are, you probably don't need them

I dig black rims myself. cheap and easy to cover up all the abuse i put them through...

Bead lock wheels are used for rock crawling. they actually lock the tire bead to the wheel to keep the tire from coming off while at low tire pressure. I just baught polished ultra type 50 wheels from les schwabs. when i get my pics developed I'll show ya or you can go to les schwabs site and check em out. I think they look very nice on my runner

Sorry, but polished will always be a better looking wheel. IMHO. Black might meet a certain persons needs better (I.E. cheaper to replace) but you just can't touch a polished wheel for looks.

These are a polished uncoated soda pop can wheel.

I don't like coated wheels, as the coating chips and fades, and when you do polish them, you are only polishing the coating, and not the metal/aluminum itself.
To get them this nice, you need uncoated wheels.

I like the look of polished ones on a white rig, but also after seeing the white 1st gen with the Badland bumpers on it posted the other day, his Rob's black "bead lock look" wheels look very nice with a white rig too.

Last wax job in April.

My current style wheel

This is one of the wheels I currently have but am thinking about buying some black rims for some Swampers I am buying for $150. Maybe I will just have a street wheel/tire combo and mud wheel/tire combo.

Hey I have seen your rig when I was in Vegas visiting my brother. I think it was back in april or may..

Back to the topic, it depends on what look you want to go for. Trail rig-look: go for the black
On road bling with a rugged look: go for the polished

I personally think that a set of polished can make almost any vehicle look better. I got my truck with primer spots everywhere. Going from stock to new tires with rims is like night and day.

So my opinion is like SLC punk you want functional go for black you want style go for polished.

I have to disagree. I think Black rims are very style-ish. They look mean and gritty. That is a style...right?
