Is your truck standard or Auto ? If its stick it could be the clutch override button. Lets you start the truck without pushing in the clutch.

Pics would help

Just make sure the truck is in neutral first!!
Turn on the ignition switch, push the button and turn your ingnition key the remainder of the way to start the truck.

I think in the manual it states to only use it when you absolutely need it.

The manual tells you to use it when in gear to jerk the truck if you get stuck or something like that. As long as you are in neutral it's fine to use it whenever. I use mine a few times a week and I haven't had to recharge the flux capacitor yet.

some people rig it so you have to hit it in order to start the truck as a security measure.

I use it to start the truck in gear when I stall on a hill while wheeling and to strat the truck out of gear when I'm not sitting in the driver's seat. Gotta be careful on this last one.

This is exactly what it is designed for. Stalling on a steep hill makes it a pain to get going again. You sort of have to have three feet to work the brake, clutch and gas. Instead, just stick it in gear, hit the button, and turn the key.

I do this too. That's sort of a bonus feature of the clutch start cancel.
