is your wife for real, does she wear shoes, if my wife said she does not like to sit on dead animal skin I would be filing for a divorce cause I would have bought her a bike.

Must be weird living with her

edit:
congrats on the new ride, slow from a start but fast on the highway and weird cause you don't feel shifts

She does not like the way they feel. Cold in the Winter, hot in the Summer. Then there is the sitting on dead animal skin thing. In the end nothing matters other then she does not want leather, so that is the way it is going to be.

I bought her a Silver Murano Monday with black cloth. Very nice vehicle. First tank of fuel, 23 MPG...

The Bose sterio simply KICKS!!!

I will probably pick up a new 4Runner for myself in the near future.

Hey I'm with her on the whole leather thing. Except for the dead animal part.

Sounds like you got her a nice Murano. I've always thought they were nice looking.

About the new 4Runner...you're not going to be getting rid of one of your current ones are you? Just wondering.

I might be parting with the 97 that was featured in the magazine in the next year or so. I still have a little bit of product developement to do with it for now.

Nope, no leather shoes. Has some, but does not wear them any more.

Anywhere between 14.6 and 15.6mpg.. I have gotten in the low 16mpg's before.
Highway, I'm looking at 17.9 or so... This is w/o CC and driving 80+

Best thing is to reset you computer every time and then subtract (2) from the reading.

I do, however, drive my truck as if it were stolen...

Gadget-
2 things to check for on the Murano (trim stuff)

1. The back of the front seats. There is a hard piece as the seatback trim-basically covers the entire seatback.
That has weak clips and can break off and the entire piece can fall off. Just make sure all the clips are in fact, attached and not broken.

2. There is an issue with loose side windows-- it is a window regulator issue that can cause rattling, loose on the track

3. The headlights can be adjusted for height/distance - there is a switch on the dash-make sure it is working.

Hope you two enjoy the sweet ride, like I said it is my fav. crossover suv. (the flipout tiedowns in the cargo area are pretty cool too)

You don't mean the RED one do you?? That one was practically a work of art! and somehow very contagious as it gave me mod fever many times

Is it still as shiny as I last remember it?

I have leaned some things recently about the V8 that concerns me. Have you noticed that TRD will not sell any more V8 superchargers???

it's been on hold for a while now Gadget. I think it was an ECU issue.
My guess is that Toyota said F'it because they were coming out with VVTi and would have to redo the SC ecu anyway.
Waste to troubleshoot an aftermarket part for an engine they are going to phase out (just my guess).

4th Gen 4Runner real-world mileage

My wife and I drove our 2003 Limited v-6 4WD 4Runner to Colorado Springs and back [2200+ miles] and the computed mileage was 20.546 mpg. The vehicle was fully loaded with wedding presents on the "to" leg, and with several cases of wine on the "return" leg. Highway speeds were consistently between 70-75 mph; temps varied from ~75F in Colorado to 90+ from Utah back to SoCal. Tire pressures were 36 psi, and fuel was 87 octane from SoCal to the equivalent "regular" rating in New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. [Mountain states rate octane differently than does California]. Vehicle was not placed in 4WD at any time on the trip. Accumulated mileage was 11,900 miles at conclusion of trip. Oil was changed every 3000 miles (or more frequently) using Valvoline 5W30 dino oil.

I got a question for you Gadget, what intervals will you change the oil at with the Murano, will you use syntetic and do 7500 till the powertrain runs out, as much as I know the VQ is a solid engine which should never cause you any problems and I know the wife does not like leather but I thought pretty much all the Nissans at least the Muranos came through with leather wrapped steering wheels and shift knobs, I could have sworn I test drove a Murano with black cloth and leather wheel and knob

It has 500 miles on it now. I will do the first oil change soon. Probably dino of for the next 500 then I will use AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30 and change it twice a year which should be about 15,000 miles. That worked great on the Maxima that had 280,000 miles on it and I never had to add any oil and it still ran like brand new.

So far the Murano is getting 22 MPG in normal everyday driving. She loves it dispite the leather steering wheel.

I wish I had not spent so much time driving the new 4Runner. I really want one now. Maybe I can get URD to get one for me as a company truck...

That makes me laugh thinking about the leather now for the oil changes, your not adding 1 of those secondary extra filters are you, just the 5 quarts of the Amsoil 2000 0w30 and change it every 15k, the twice a year do you change it under 15k or every 6 month even if you only put 7k on it and not 15k, and also you use an OEM filter and you leave that on for the entire time, and do you get used oil analysis done, is the air filter also left stock.

I use AMSOIL air filters on the Toyota trucks and the old Maxima. I have not checked yet to see if AMSOIL makes one for the Murano or not. If they do it will be on there.

I will use AMSOIL SDF oil filters on the new car/truck thing. If there is room I may install the combination bypass/full flow filter remote mount with the add on pre-oiler device. There was not any room on the Maxima so I never considered it.

Yes, every 6 months regaurdless of miles. It just saves a lot of strain on the marrage doing it that way. The little sticker mileage reminders on the windshield can not be read by women for some reason.

Supercharge

Is your 4Runner supercharged? Is that what SC means?

The reason I'm asking is because I am considering getting a 4th gen 4Runner, but I want to know about my options as far as supercharging goes. Especially with the V6/V8 decision.

Thanks,
J
