What is this unused plug for?

In the cargo area and behind the driver's side plastic panel there appears to be an unused plug. I was wondering if anyone knows what this plug is for?

Thanks

Does your rig have a factory tow hitch? Could be a harness for the trailer lights...?

FSM shows it as "J 14 Junction Connector" (whatever that means). It is not connected to anything in the wiring diagram.

Maybe for international versions of the 4Runner? Or testing?

It is on the harness that runs to the drivers tail lamp, high mount stop light and rear interior light.

2000 4runner 4x4 V6 5spd. Has factory tow hitch and wiring already. Its on the drivers side and comes off the main harness going to the rear right behind the rear seat.

Thats just a junction connector, meaning inside it the different wires are connected together (not all connected together though).

Had my electrician buddy over tonight and we were wrenching on the 4runner. Had him test all the wires in the plug. Every single one was a ground
