Alright I want some white bulbs, but there are so many choices.
What kind does everyone else have?

 

I have PIAA Super Whites. They are "OK". I've heard the Silverstars are pretty good.

 

I've had the Sylvania Blue "something or another", but now I have Silverstars. They're OK I guess, they're pretty bright and a little white, but still have a yellowish tinge to them, not bad though. I think the PIAAs are the way to go, but too expensive on the wallet

Just to play devil's advocate here - if you search for PIAAs and headlights, I think you'll find some pretty negative comments about them.

Some regarding longevity, others regarding rain performance.

Silverstars - good light output - and not too much blue.......

 

whenever i hear silverstars its always in the context of toyotas.

maybe ill get them for that reason alone!

im pretty sure that if you switch out the lights to something other than OEM, they probably wont be good in the rain. dont quote me on that for everything, but i know in the rain during the night, my silverstars disappear. hasnt this topic been beaten to death though? perhaps a search could find you some solid answers?

 

You need H4 headlight bulbs, the H3 is what goes in my fog lights. My PIAA xtreme whites have a 4150K temp rating and produce a good solid white. They have very little blue look which is one thing i like about them.

 

just like dbikeman, I have PIAA H4 for headlights, H3 for Foglights, 168 for Corner lights. Look good, bright, last more than 1. 5 yrs and still working.

They are bad when it rains.

I have the H4 Extreme White by PIAA and love them. Unless my eyes are tricking me there is no blue color. I rode with a friend that has the PIAA.........not sure which one but has a blue tint to the light and they sucked.

 

I've had the PIAA Xtreme Whites and much as I liked the HID look, they don't last very long despite the precautions in handling them before installing them (bulbs swabbed w/ alcohol wipes). After two sets I gave them up and currently utililizing the Sylvania Silverstars. Not very bright nor do they produce the white lights. I'd say save your money and keep the stock halogens and invest in some auxillary H3 driving lights (Hella). My .02 cents.

 

I had the PIAA Xtreme Whites on my truck. They look almost identical to the Silverstars. They just gave up after about a 1year 1/2. I just bought one of those Nokya ones for replacement that looks blueish when lit. My next set will be the CATZ real HID(if i can even get them by that time) It'll probably save me money in a long run. I'm just sick of the loss of visability in the rain. Any blubs that has blue tint to the bulb will suck in the rain. We just need to realize and admit the fact that we're getting it for the looks, not functionality. and as for fog lights, try the PIAA yellow ion crystal bulbs. It provides a nice contrast to your WHITE lights.

 

I do like the look of those yellow fog lights. That look reminds me of my moms IS 300. It has the xenon hid headlights and then yellow fogs.

 

Napa has some new aftermarket bulbs called "true view" that I installed in my girls sunfire. I replaced some older napa "blue tinted" bulbs with these. I havent got to drive it yet but she said they are whiter and she can see better with these new ones. (coming from a woman Im assuming they are quite abit better, Im also assuming going from stock theyd be noticeably better) They run about 10 or 11 bucks a peice.

 

I got some generic type hyper white bulbs off of ebay for about $15 just to do it. They were 5k and are actually really bright and very white, with alost no blue and certainly no yellow. A good score i must say.
