I have a 1999 4Runner SR5V6 2WD.

I wanted to change the diffferential fluid and wanted get recommendations for type and grade of oil. What do you recommend?

The owner's manual is a good place to start. It has the grade listed for each of the driveline components.

I'm personally using a Amsoil and Redline in my diffs and transfer case because I've had it sitting around the garage. I'm a fan of synthetics. Any synthetic will be plenty good. Check out Mobil 1 and Amsoil. I've found them the easiest to locate.

Mobil 1 since it's readily available.

i will be switching to synthetic, but conventional will be ok if you are not hard on your vehicle.

75/90 or 80/90 weight is fine BUT if you tow or 4 wheel a lot i would really look into a 75/110 or 75/140 weight for extra protection.. preferably a syn in those higher weights.. amsoil, mobile, redline are good ones..
