What tools do I need??

I am trying to get everything together so that I can install the 3" Revtek kit on my 2000 4runner. I was trying to make a list of everything I would need for the install, and I was just going to see what you guys recommend. What tools do I really need, what tools will make the install a lot easier, etc. Thanks for the help.

Air tools. I just got a really nice complete set up (air ratchet, impact gun, hose, compressor, air attachments) for $400, brand new. I can't believe I turned wrenches this long without air tools. The decrease in install time is unbelievable. If you can swing it, let me know and I will give you a list of everything I purchased.

Yeah I'm sure that air tools do make the install a lot quicker. I've got a few friends with air tools so I should be able to borrow them for the day. Which air tools do you use on the install?

I use an air ratchet, impact gun and cutoff wheel on a regular basis.
Air drill and angle grinder are nice to have as well.

It's big and heavy and generally used for high TQ applications (wheels, crank pulley bolts, axle nuts). Mine is rated at 275 at max press. $50 at Home Depot.

Tom-

I actually went with the Coleman compressor at Costco. For the specs and price, it can't be beat. Oil free, 155psi max press, 28 gallon capacity, etc. $250 at Costco. I then went with $120 worth of air tools and accessories from HD.

I find myself looking for reason's to fire up the air and rev the air ratchet...kinda dorky but oh well.

Not dorky at all. I do the same thing with my air tools, my wife thinks I'm crazy.

If you don't go for the pneumatic tools make sure you have a torque wrench or some long handled socket wrench - it'll make the use of the coil compressor easier.

You'll need the appropriate metric tools. Good writeup - and maybe even a bottle jack to get that A-arm down. I found a small prybar was helpful in getting the shock oriented correctly if I messed up when releasing the compressor.

Don't forget a good set of jackstands, wheel chocks, and whatever miscellaneous stuff too.
