What are the side effects of a leaking water pump?

What are the side effects of a leaking water pump?

Bad gas mileage?
Rough idle?

None of the above. If it is leaking from the weep hole underneath the pump, that means coolant is getting past the internal seal and into the bushings in the pump shaft. Coolant washes away the lube in the bushing, causing it to wear out and then the pump siezes. If the leak is very slow, it may take months for the above to happen, but one the leak gets obvious (puddle on the driveway), it it just about ready to let go from my experience.

She'll only leak so long, as 4crawler said was good advice. If it's leaking from the seals she'll run dry and your HG/heads, pump will sieze..., and a whole boat load of bad stuff! Don't screw around, get that fixed before it costs you more money down the road!

I've also seen the bearing sieze and the shaft with the fan blade snap off...
If it starts weeping - replace it. No excuses.
