Well depending when you got it you probably got the intergrated bumper tow hitch which is rated at 5k, but they then turned around and offered a dealer options where it up it to 7500 maybe someone else will chime in

Just a pissing match between my buddy and I. He has a 4x4 Ram 1500 with the 4.7 in it. Said mine it only good to 2500, he also thinks it is a unibody like a Mustang or Firebird.

I would say overall he would win when it comes to towing heavy loads, I would take a fullsize to tow big/heavy stuff.
But in the end you have the better truck, engine, everything

1st production 4th gens came standard with 5000#. The 2nd production 4th gens now come with the 7000# weight distributed hitch installed.
The messed up thing about the people with the 5000# limit hitch is that we can't upgrade to the new hitch... o well... not a biggie for me. Not like I want to be towing more than the actual weight of my 4runner...
Although I should say I have towed a 03 Ford Explorer 4x4 on a Uhaul Flatbed (auto transport) and even though I was over the limit, it did handle pretty well... But I don't think I'll be going over the 5000# limit though as, thats just pure stupidity on my part...
Better safe than sorry... Figure if I need to tow something real heavy, I'll just use a friends Tundra or some other pickup..

My dads full size could haul more than anything I have seen.
Its the new Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Quad-Cab Long Bed...that thing is a MONSTER!
I just wish my truck could handle a bigger load, I have had many occasions where I have wanted to take my 4Runner and my 4Wheelers along on some wheeling trips and that hasn't been able to happen becuase of the weight of the 4Wheelers put together and the trailer that I have. Oh well, I got to drive the Dodge

The 03 Limited has a stock transmission cooler, right? I wonder how hot the transmission fluid gets while towing such heavy loads. Of course the higher the temps the more wear on the transmission.
