It appears to be a high-flow drop-in type that's foam instead of pleated cotton.

 

I wouldn't get it. Are you willing to gamble your engine for an unproven air filter? I know you're trying to get as much power from the 3.0, but how much do you think you'll gain even if it does work? Maybe 1 hp? You already have the kn filter, did you notice any improvement? If you did, then anything else anything else will give you diminishing returns.

I don't think it's worth it a new engine and I don't think it's worth any the hp gain, even if it does work (which I don't think it will).

Holy cow, I didn't expect that response. I'm probably going to stick with my K & N, but I remember everyone trying a group buy for foam type re-useable filters awhile ago, which is what this is. I think saying that it'd ruin your entire engine is a bit extreme.

 

I agree completely with Steve on this. I wouldn't risk using it. Not to mention, I wouldn't suggest buying an air filter off Ebay, no matter what kind of performance gains they claim.

That's just my opinion, but I'd much rather stick with a well known company (Hence why almost everyone on here either uses a Toyota Air Filter, K&N, or Amsoil) because they've been proven.

My apologies if I sounded a little abrasive. After seeing all the automobile scams on ebay I'm a little skeptical about those kind of things. Personally, I don't think changing the drop in filter will gain you that much power, if any. I've tried the kn filter and didn't notice any performance gains.

Our trucks are getting up there in age and mileage, and any dirt or dust in the air will just wear down the cylinders that much faster.

Anyways, that's just my opinion. If you'd like to try it on your truck and give us some feedback that'd be great.

Nope, I don't intend to replace the K&N. I just thought I'd share what I saw, because of the past interest in a piece of foam not made by Amsoil for the 2nd gens.

I mainly like my K&N's because they're re-useable. If I get .01 HP also, than that's OK too.

Woohoo!!, got my Bushwackers from UPS today, I bought them from Performance while they were having the 15% off sale for $259.

 

Gee if you are that concerned about the quality of the air filter, how could you consider changing from the original to a K & N?

From what I have heard, I don't want a K & N either. I'll just stick with the original and change it fairly often.

95_4X4Runner, again my apologies. I in no way intended to slam you or your ideas. At the time I did not realize you were trying to bring us an alternative to the amsoil filter. I thought that you wanted to try it out yourself and I was trying to dissuade you.

All new ideas are welcomed here and I hope you will continue to contribute to the yotatech board. Perhaps a writeup on the install of your bushwackers?
