What to do?

So heres my plan, finish up highschool only 25 more days 8) take a semester or two off, ill be making $500 a week, so i can make some cash, now comes the tricky part, i got a 90' 4runner, i like it cept for a few things, the color, its like sky blue, im not gonna make my rig very intimidating if i keep it sky blue, interior color, dark blue, if i were to paint it interior would look kinda funny with dark blue and say white exterior. and not enough power, 3.0L 8/ so i was thinking of working whats 2 semesters like 6 months, thats like 24 25 weeks, x 500 a week thats like $12,500, now take off prob 2,500 to pay for insurance and other stuffs, im left with $10,000. Now if i were to sell my 90' 4runner (190kmiles) how much do you think i could get for it, pretty much stock. Add that to my 10,000 and i could probably afford a pretty nice 96+ 4runner with 3.4L engine, would have some money left over to get ARB or TJM bumper, lift, tires some Hellas.. Or i could just paint my 90' possibly buy a supercharger... and have some cash left to get bumper, lights, lift etc... So whats your guys opinion, and if i were to keep it what color should i paint it? i really like the white, or black, or maybe a dark blue?

Well for one thing, I dont think they make a SC for a 90 (if that's what you were implying).

My best advice to you is this:

Do everything you can to be debt free. If you can manage a nice ride without putting yourself in the hole, then by all means do it.
Trust me on this. It will make your life so much better.

I say go for the 3.4 if you can afford it.

Depends on your state and how much the selling price is.

Generally, a $10K vehicle will be around $600 in taxes from a dealer.

Is there anything wrong w/ it mechanically? If not, keep it.

$10,000 - taxes...maybe about $7,000 left over? It sounds like you need to do a little reading too on taxes, personal and sales. Roughly a 1/3 of your taxes will go to Uncle Sam. If you buy a vehicle in CA, you'll pay the sales tax rate in your area (7.5-8.5%? guessing) plus all the additional fees that the DMV will slap on you like "use tax" (i hate that one), and registration fees.

I agree w/ 96. Dont' kill yourself w/ debt so early on. While its cool to have fun stuff, having money in your bank and/or savings account is even sweeter when it comes time to buy even bigger things (i.e. house). If you are not going to college, you could use that money as a down payment on a townhouse, for example. Your house will appreciate rather than depreciate (if you buy a car). When you sell it, you'll be much better off.

they dont make a supercharger for the 90 4runner 3.0. and white with a blue interior looks fine. thats what mine came with stock. it looks better than any other color combination. i would stick with it, just make sure its running good, and put your money into it wisely and you couldnt go wrong. but what was stated before, make sure you can afford it. live within your means. and dont forget gas and food and clothes, those add up as well.

Keep your '90, drop in a small block V8 or a 3.4, mod the hell out of it and paint...well paint could be a last priority. It's not color that matters, its how you use it.
-well thats what I'd do with it
P.S. I'm graduating High School in about 20 days also, Kinda scary, but I'm glad to go.
