What are the 3rd gen front and rear axles called?

What are the 3rd gen front and rear axles called?
I am looking for 4.88's for the front of my 97 4runner, and I find alot of IFS front diffs for sale but isn't there a difference between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen front diffs? Also on the rear diffs I find conflicting info on what will fit in the rear end of my 97 V6 housing. Will a V6 2nd gen 3rd member work? Thanks, just don't want to buy the wrong thing.

Front - 7.5 rev rotation clamshell front diff. Older diffs will not work, carriers and lockers from them will, but ring and pinion are different.
Rear - v6 8", any 8" third will fit in your axle (different d shaft patterns though)
