If you don't have 4WD then you shouldn't have any 4x4 light, let alone that one. That paticular light is for the Multi-Mode 4x4 system found in 99+ Limiteds and 2001+ SR5's/Limiteds. The green wheels indicate AWD mode for wet pavement use, and the orange light indicates a locked center diff for off-road/slippery surface use. If you have that then you do have 4WD, and should also have two shift levers on the console, one with a button labeled "4WD" in big white letters on the knob's left side.
GapGuy, the VSC indicators only come on when the system is disabled, as when the center diff is locked, and is an orange light on the dash that says "VSC OFF". VSC was optional on the Multi-Mode system in 99-00, standard when they redsigned the system for 2001+.

Yes, started in 2001 as the subsitute (NOT replacement) for the factor e-locker in the 4Runners, migrated over from the FJ100 series LC's. Not available on any current gen Tacoma, they have the e-locker!

If not, I'm fully aware I'm 2wd, thank you very much...I was referring to the comment made in rwmorrisons' 1st post.
