Weld wheels on a Toyota?
#1
I know this is a very common question among this forum and I'm sorry that you'll have to explain it again because I can't find a straight answer. I have a 1999 4x4 4runner with a lift of about 2.5 inches. I currently have after market wheels which are 16x8 eagle alloys with a backspacing of 3 5/8. The clearance is fine with those but I'm looking to buy new ones considering the simulated bead lock is starting to rust after just one year (I would not recommend them). I'm looking into buying some 16x8 Weld Racing wheels. Particularly the Cheyenne model. The problem is that they only come in a 4.5 inch backspacing. I know stock is very similar to this backspacing but I am running 285/75 R16 tires which is are a little wider than stock. Does anyone run Weld wheels on thier Toyota? I haven't seen any on a Toyota yet and would like to see how they look as far as backspacing. I would also like to know if anyone's experienced rubbing on the a arms with 4.5 inch backspacing. Thanks guys.

First off, welcome to YT! Second, I would venture to say that 4.5 with the 285's is probably going to cause some upper A-arm rubbing. You can either get some of Sonoran Steels shaved A-Arms, or run wheel spacers (possible issues with those), or just take the plunge, and get some Wheeler's black steelies with the right backspacing!

here's my thread on those rims 16x8 w/4.5" backspacing +285/75r16 Wranglers.
