Weird noise when revved!??? HELP
I have a 2000 4Runner 3.4 with about 94,000 miles and it has been making a weird noise when i hit the gas or rev. The motor is all stock besides a True Flow filter and it has Flowmaster 40 series exhaust.
I would describe the noise as there being a plastic bag at the end of of my exhaust pipe. When it idles, it sounds completely normal but when i get on the gas it starts making the noise. Any ideas of what this could be?
Is it something to do with my exhaust or my tranny? Thanks

try banging on your muffler when the engine is off. if you hear a rattling it means your baffling came loose. my Magnaflow came loose and sounds dumb at high RPM. the other thing is that there are heat-shields on the exhaust manifold that can come a little loose and sound tinny. I don't know of a fix for that but maybe someone else does.

Sounds good, I will give that a try.
Also, I am thinking about going back to stock exhaust or maybe just something quieter than the 40 series. What would you say is closest to stock out there? Thanks
