Vinyl Roof Wrap

Vinyl Roof Wrap
Anyone ever tried this? My paint on the roof is starting to oxidize a bit and I figure a nice sheet of satin black 10 year vinyl would work better than repainting. I doubt it could be to expensive to have done, as long as I do all the prep.

Not my taste but 2 each his own I guess. I just think it would look out of place on a 4runner. Never seen it done though so I can't really say. If you like it though I say go for it.

Vinyl roof? hmmm could look good I guess... If you have a 1gen then you need to add some of those fancy chrome C-pillar scroll details from a 60's t-bird... if it is a 4dr then you'd need some "coach lights" on the b pillar to complete the "look".

To clarify, I'm talking about a vinyl sticker (the stuff they completely wrap cars in with graphics), not a padded roof like a mid-90's Cadillac. I think it could make it look similar to an FJ Cruiser's type of 2 tone color scheme.

I got a good laugh out of those responses....
Do you have a roof rack on your truck? I wonder if wrapping the roof and putting the rack over it would cause some leaking. Also, I've never seen 10 year wraps before. I can't imagine someone warrantying one that long for color fastness and adhesion.

LMAO...I totally had the wrong idea. When you said vinyl I just thought pimped caddy! Anyways I guess I don't really see any issues with the vinyl wrap. If it's guaranteed for that long, I'd give it a shot.

I have done the vinyl on roof, it's not too hard to apply with two people. I have the material. PM me and I can give you more information. It's a lot less $$$ to do than repaint and this stuff will last years.

my boss just had a limo wrapped for a tailgate ride for the football games. he got a deal from a friend and it still cost $2500! but, that was an entire HUGE car, maybe it wouldn't be that much in your case. as long as the metal underneath is good still, i think it would look fine, although i would have it painted. do it up and show some pics, i'd love to see how it turns out!

I'd have the same concern about it for a long term application... if you wanted to "sample" a colour choice before going to actual paint/clear then maybe...
