u-joint replacement

u-joint replacement

hey guys ive a weird noise when im driving its builds up and is louldest around 80klms. the noise stays when i knock it into netrual while driving and also when slowing down.
its a knida howling whining sound.

ive done a good few searches and i think its the u-joints.
how many u-joints do i need and the best place to buy them. i will have to get them shipped as im in Ireland.
its a
97 4speed auto 2wd with selectable 4wd diesel.

im pretty sure you will need 4. i would strongly recomend spicer http://www.spicerparts.com/driveshaft/automotive.asp they are very solid and long lasting. and just in case you might want some help here is a thread i found helpful first time i did mine http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/ujoint_install/
edit: if you dont know how many you need, just go and count them

no its the same sound either on the gas or off it.

as simple as that pirate article makes it sound, u joints are not fun, im on a 3 day battle and counting with mine.
Between school and work and having to improvise with usless tools it doesnt make it easy.
If you've never done a U-joint, get a 12 pack of beer, and invite over a buddy that has experience doing so.

I just moved in and the guy across the street from me is a ford mechanic, thankfully he was a nice guy and willing to help.
He will get a 12 pack of coors light within the next few days
