Vibration when in the gas?? HELP!
So a few weeks ago I was complaining about a vibration when letting off the gas! That was due to low tire pressure in the front driver side tire!
2000 SR5 4Runner...128K miles.
Today I drove 8 hours down to FL to come help my g/f move back up to GA.
A few times recently I've noticed a rattling/squealing type sound coming from the front passenger side area when I was accelerating. It would come and go and not happen all the time. Didn't think it was a big deal. Have no idea if it is related to the new vibration I'm experiencing.
From the start of the trip today I was feeling a vibration throughout the whole truck when accelerating and in the gas. At first I thought it might be the pavement of the road...but tossed that thought as the pavement changed.
The best way I can describe the feeling of the vibration is similar to if you drive over an non smooth road or when a car is running on not all cylinders. I thought it was only noticable up at higher speeds above 50mph but once I made it to FL and was on local roads and starting from a standstill it was still evident...almost like the car was shuddering a bit. It is worse at the lower speeds. Almost feeling like the car is wheel hopin but there is actually no hoping of the wheels at all.
I left my OBD reader at home so I can even run any codes! I did check at a gas station tire pressure and oil level...all that was fine. The did get 20+mpg going about 80mph the whole way.
I guess I don't have much of a choice and will have to drive back 8 hours in a day and a half....just wanted to post to get any thought or ideas.
I guess I will check and make sure all the plug wires are on correctly.
Another comment is when revving the rpms in park or neutral...or even sitting with my food on the brake and the car in drive and revving the rpms...no vibration. It only happens when the car is rolling.
Sorry for the very long post! Wanted to make sure I had all the details.
Thanks,
Mike

I use to have a similar problem like that on my explorer. It turned out to be a front wheel bearing. I'm not as knowledgable about the toyata's front end but try leaning against the wheel and shacking it. My explorer would rock and you could hear and feel the wheel popping in and out of the bearing's "seat" (is it also called a "race"?)

I'd be happy if it were just a wheel bearing!
Could it still possible be a wheel bearing if the vibration goes away when I am off the gas?
I have an appt. scheduled with the dealer Monday morning. Guess I'll just have to deal with the vibration for the 600 mile trip back to GA.
Thanks,
Mike

Found out what the issue was today.
Took it into the dealer.
Drive shaft and U joint is bad!
Didn't know a driveshaft would go bad after 129K miles but I guess it did.
$700 later I should have it fixed and back Weds.

Yep.. UJoint was EXACTLY what I was about to say. But my goodness... $700.00!!!
I just bought the parts, dropped the drive shaft and swapped them out myself in my driveway... (in case you are not at home, I've done it on the trail,,,the side of a highway,,, and in a Kmart parking lot)....yeah.. it can be a real pain to do, especially if you have to do it with the 'ol sockets and hammer, but I just feel for you having to pay that much for U-joint replacement.
I'm glad you got her fixed anyway.
