Question vibration question!

I've been lurking around this great forum for sometime now and this is my first post. My runner is a 97 limited 4wd and i'm trying to figure out why is that when i step on the brake and in full stop, i can feel a vibration in the car somewhere i cannot pinpoint. The vibration will go away once i put the car in Park and release the brake pedal.

Your rotors may be warped. I would have them either have them resurfaced or replaced entirely. That should cure your problem. BTW, let me be the first to welcome you to yotatech.com!

Vibration under braking is common with 4Runners. The OEM rotors are poor such that they warp prematurely compared to most aftermarket rotors. Most people have replaced them with Brembo's. I replaced my warped OEM rotors at 65,000 miles after they were replaced once and then turned once. I have 40,000 on the Brembos with no problems.

It sounds to me like he's not talking about warped rotors. Sounds more like the load from the power braking system, and the transmission being in drive, are causing a low enough rpm on the engine that it's causing the vibration.

Engine mount? dirty injectors... something crazy like that.

Yes, i don't feel any vibration if i hit the brake when the car is moving so warped rotor is maybe not the issue(?); it happens only when i'm at complete stop and ride on the brake. It's not a vibration that completely shakes the car though. It's a slight,"rythmic", and come and go continous sound/vibration that I cannot really pinpoint where.

With regards to the engine mount, i once had an experience with my infiniti g20 and it really shake the car since the mounts were cracked. I doubt but i'll try to look into it. Dirty injectors, as far as i know when you have dirty injectors the car will drive like a crap - "rough"! Mine runs smooth and can accelerate reasonably without hesitation....

search "brake shudder".

does it start while braking and stop if you take your foot off the brake before a complete stop? ^

this happens only when i have my foot on the brake and at FULL STOP and it will stop when i put it on PARK or continue driving. So i come up to the notion that there's "something" with my brakes.

BTW, before it's too late, thanks for the welcome, guys! I've learned a lot and learning more from this great forum. Thanks!

Sounds like a low idle indeed... How many miles on it? When was the last time it was fully tuned up? Throttle body service? MAF cleaned? de-carbonized?

Checked my rig's idle and is at 600 to 700, is this supposed to be low? It doesn't feel the engine is going to stall though. BTW, I cleaned throttle body/MAF 4 mos. ago. I wonder what else contributes to low idle. Is there a fix for it?
