viberation when stopped at red light with car in gear

My 99 SR5 (120k) vibrates noticeably at idle when stopped at a red light with the car in gear.

I don't feel vibration at all when parked in P or N or it's running. It only happens when the car (after a few miles when engine is warm) is stopped and sitting at a red light with the car in gear (D). As soon as I release the brake, the vibration goes away.

I changed spark plugs OEM Denso (they were due, anyways), cleaned MAF and Trottle Body, checked all vacuum hoses, and PCV, etc, but cound not identify the cause(s). No CEL, or any other issue.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have a slight issue with this also. I'll be interested in everyone's opinion. Though it doesn't do it all the time and its usually only noticeable to me (I'm picky). My mother's oldsmobile, however, has this problem baaad. can't even leave it in gear at a light. So I'm kinda worried it might get worse with time

Check your transmission mount. If there's any play it's a likely culprit. Might also check the motor mounts.

I was having this exact issue with my '93 3.0L. My whole truck would shake when in D at a stop. I replaced the spark plugs and wires and the engine smoothed out. It drives a lot better now.

Might try the wires next.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check the transmission and motor mounts tomorrow.

One question for Ardent: if the wires are bad, shouldn't the truck also vibrate when in P or N? As I mentioned, my 4R only vibrates when in D at a stoplight when in D; it idles smoothly in P and N.

My truck also vibrates when stopped in drive only, not really bad, but annoying. I'm using this mount in my swap: http://4xinnovations.com/pages/drive/casemount.htm and it pretty much transmits all vibration to the truck. I'm replacing it with a new OEM Toyota mount.
