VAF - problem '95 Truck

Hi there,

I have a '95 Toyota Truck: Model: RN106L-PRMRE , Engine 22R-E 2367cc

My engine started to stumble and cough while driving so I had it
scanned and the report is: VAF Malfunction (Volume Air Flow or Vane Air Flow, or air intake sensor) you don't imagine how many names I've found on the Net for this element.
Toyota p/n: 22250-35050
DENSO : 197100-35050

I haven't been able to find any new and/or replacement part.

P.S. I also took the two screws out and pulled on the connector and ripped two wires off of the circut board on the air flow meter ('91 4Runner V6 MAF/AFM thread) and managed to fix it.

Can anyone help me?

Regards... Jose Ignacio

Is it the same thing as the MAF (mass airflow sensor)? Mine went bad recently and I had to have it replaced by the dealer. Not much help, I know, but here's a bump.

Ryan,

Thank you very much for your help. What I didn't tell on my post is that I live in Chile (South America). Here local dealers charge more tha US$1,000 for this part. I've been trying to find this part in USA unsuccesfully. Do you have any local dealer I can contact via WEB/mail?

regards

Jose I.

You have an AFM (Air Flow Meter), which does the same thing as a MAF, but it does it differently.

Contact "TOR" here on yotatech, he's the parts guy for Toyota of Richardson in Texas. Look at the top of the page and you'll see "Members List".

I had to buy one of those and it was $700 US (but not from TOR).

Edit: I just noticed you have a 22re engine. In that case disregard what I said above, that info was for the 3.0L V6. But contact TOR.
