V8 TRD Supercharger

Hey guys,

What do you expect the installation to cost on one of these at a Toyota dealership?

I am one click away from purchasing it even though I only have 300 miles on my truck.

Between $1K and $2K for install. Depends on the dealer.

I have a coupon for a free rental car and 15% off. So, I would call and get a quote, then tell them I had the coupon. Of course, you may not have a coupon like I do...not sure though.

I am assuming you want them to install the SC for warranty reasons?

Thanks 96 runner.

Yeah, I was thinking of having it factory installed for warranty reasons. My 4runner is leased so I have a number of options. I could install it with the help of some friends and then remove it before my lease is up and sell it on ebay. Or, I could just leave it on and sell the truck outright. Either way, I'm not very mechanically inclined so I would need some kind of help on the install.

So what your saying is I should be weary of '03 4Runners that just came off a lease?

How about this:

Take the $6K you are going to spend on the SC and get out of the fleece - I mean lease, and be that much closer to paying that bad boy off!

Nah, I take care of my vehicles. It would be more for show than for go.

I like leasing so I don't think that is the best idea.

Has anyone else supercharged their V8 4Runner?

ash, since the sc is new on the 4runner as it just came out days ago. doubt that anyone here will have one.

as for me, even if I had the $$ i prob won't be doing it. i'd rather pay off some of the debt to the 4runner

Thanks good times...

That's cool... maybe I can be the first. Now I just have to talk the wifey into it!

That's the beauty of a lease, I don't have to worry about paying it off for three years!

Anyways, I'm seriously considering it.

well i'm not that disciplined!!

i'm already working w/ king shocks on the coilovers.
downey for their front and rear shock/coils. headers (v8) and the air intake (v8).

not only that i need to see jason @ Demello for their sliders.

tires too!!! yikes!!!

just bought an air compressor (extreme compressors), gonna install that soon too...

so i've been spending like crazy! so hence, no funds for the SC (but i don't think i'd get it as i'm very happy w/ the v8 right now!!!

Lance, you just might single-handedly pull this economy out of the recession!

That intake would sound great on that V8 I bet...

If they had one for the v6 i would maybe get it in like a year or so. Ive got a bunch of other things i would like to do first.
NUMBER#1 pay off the truck
asap on a seat cover the my driver seat(want the leather to last)
Jaos rear skid bar $600
Jaos front center protector R $600
18" chrome wheels with alittle wider tires. somewhere around $2000
A few other small mods, more cigarette lighters plugs, xm radio, some interior lights by feet when door opens then shuts off when door is closed.

So by the time i get that all done maybe they will have a sc for the v6

Where do you live Ashburner? There may be someone near you who would help you install it. FYI, typical install prices on the V6 SC are $300-400.

$400 install

That's the ballpark figure that I got when inquiring at my Washingotn dealer for the 3rd gen SC.

If you don't mind the extra cost, that would be a good way to go, in my opinion. If you are leasing, the last thing you want is to pay extra for "unwarranty'd damage."

My other recommendation is to part it out upon lease termination. In this case, have your buddies remove the part and then ebay that bad boy. I'm certain that the open market will give you a better price than the dealership -- unless you can negotiate that into bringing down the price of your next vehicle
If the dealer takes it off your hands to resell, the whole idea is to pay you LESS than what they think/know they can resell it for. You may as well cut out the middleman -- seeing that ebay is a great marketplace, as is this site.

If you do go with the Supercharger, please remember to carry a camera with you at all times. I would ask that you take and post a photo of the first time you leave a BMW M3 in your taillights on the freeway... 335 ponies..339 torque! The M3 will probably out-do you in the turns... but he'll have to catch you first.
