Unhappy V6 Water Temperature Sensor

I recently had an engine diagnostic done on my 89 4runner. Come to find out the engine trouble I have been having for the past year was cause by a bad throttle positioning sensor and water temperature sensor. I bought both from the dealership, but I cannot find the water-positioning sensor on my 4runner. Where is this thing and how do I get to it? I was also looking at the throttle-positioning sensor and noticed that it could be rotated slightly before tightening it down. How do I determine where to position it, or should I just go by the original one? Any help would be great. Thanks

It would help if you could tell us what engine you have. If you have the 3.0 V6, the ECT sensor is underneath the intake plenum on the rear of the engine near the firewall.

I'm not at home right now, so I can't look up the rest of the engine's locations.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I looked at this post again now that I'm home and realized that you most likely have the 3.0... I was at work a bit distracted when I posted this orginally.

Your TPS will need to be adjusted correctly. If not, it will cause problems. Here is a great site on doing it. If that is too much, I've been told the dealership will charge one hour of labor for it.

Thanks

Thanks guys, both of tose posts where a big help. I think I am taking this one to the dealer. It's been a pretty frustrating problem, I am not going to take any chances. Thanks again.
