Unlocking Hub conversion from ADD 2001 Tacoma

I have a 2001 Tacoma with the ADD system. I have a friend who tells me to remove the auto locking hubs and replace them with manual hubs. He insists that this takes alot of wear off the 4x4 components and that I will get better gas mileage.
Has anyone converted their autohubs to manual ones and if so which hubs did you use? My last truck 8822RE had Warns and they were fine. I can do the work myself, but was wondering if its worth the trouble.

Thanks in advance,

MV

Your friend is right. Do a search, you'll find out everything else you need. It's not gonna be as cheap/easy as the older toyota hub swaps. $500+ would be a good ballpark, if you get a deal on the parts from a junkyard. ORS kit is around 1k

You also need a hydraulic press from what I understand. I'd like to do the conversion myself, but for $1500CAN I dont think it's worth it unless you're getting into lifting...

if your truck does not have abs, then you dont need a press
