universal axle housing?

I've been told that the V6 third members are a good bit stouter that the 4cyl. Was wondering if the '89 8" and the 7.5" IFS axle housing were the same between the 2 engines? And if the axle spline counts were the same and if the driveshafts connect the same? This way I could go ahead and have heavier third members when I regear before I put a bigger engine in. Any help is appreciated.

V-6 gears and bearings on the 8" diffs are larger and stronger.

IFS 7.5" diffs should be the same regardless.

Bolt patterns on the diff flanges only change from certain years that I don't have on the tip of my tongue now.

Edited for spelling and punctuation.
