Turn Signal Problems

I am in the middle of a rather lengthy road trip and this morning my turn signals started acting up.

Here are the symptoms--

97 4Runner

If I use the left turn signal, both left and right signals come on (like using the hazards).

If I use the right turn signal, all is fine.

If I use the right turn signal and step on the brake, the right signal comes on solid.

The hazards work fine.

I'm not sure if it is related, but I am towing a trailer and it does this with the trailer wiring plugged in and unplugged. It also has been raining and snowing a lot over the last couple of days.

Suggestions???

Most likely one of your turn signal bulbs is shorting out, I've seen it happen several times. Take a new bulb and swap them out one at a time until the problem goes away, check the tail/brake bulbs too. Good luck and keep us posted!
