turn signal mod
i have a prerunner bumper on my truck now and i did the turn signal mod to move the blinkers into the parking lights. i grounded the two grounds to the inside of the fenders and i put teh two other positive wires directly to the new 1157 socket. i got te little ones from auto zone without the ground connector on the socket. but now my blinkers blink fast like the ricers and i have stopped using my turn signals. but i can't figure out what is wrong. all lights work and everything just wondering whats up.

:pat: :pat:Did you wire the lights backwards? If you got the parking light wired to work the turn indicator it'll blink faster because of the watts that it draws is less.

If your signals are still flashing too quickly you can always add a resistor inline to slow down the rate.

I did something similar on my previous 4runner and had the same problem. I went to an autoparts store & replaced the flasher with a heavy duty one. It had only 2 of the 3 prongs but worked fine. Cost me $7,- Cad.

i did the same thing to my 01 taco. when your signals burn out, the bulbs produce no resistance and the "ricerish" blinking is suppose to notify you that the bulbs are burnt out. since you are swithcing from a 35watt bulb to a 5watt, it thinks that its burnt out
a resistor needs to be added to the circuit, but i dont have dpp to check the difference

I bet if you didn't feel like adding a resistor, you could buy an ELECTRONIC turn signal flasher. It flashes by it's own set time, not the draw of current.
PLUS, if you ever have problems with trailer lights being slow, this would fix it!
