tube doors

where oh where can i buy some tube doors for my rig..????

i really like the look of www.aor4x4.com tube doors but they are only available for the 84-88 trucks.

i need some doors for the 79-83 series truck.

not only are they sweet looking but they would work great on these hot california days since my truck doesnt have a/c.

it would be great if other guys who are interested, even slightly, to email aor4x4.com and express interest in the tube doors for this generation truck, if they get enough emails maybe they would build some.
pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease

Check out these guys. They sell the tube doors painted for only like $200. a pair. I really wanted a pair, but is seems that they are not street legal or it is questionable or at the officer's discretion. Too many negative variables!

i wasnt completely satisfied with the look or the design of the other tube doors, i especailly didnt like the latching mechanism of the trail carage doors.

the aor4x4.com doors have and a truck like door spring latch and catch mechanism and i also liked the look of the cover plate for the door to fender jam they make.

anybody know any other manufactures out there?????

I remember doing an exhaustive search on this topic a bit ago, in VA you have to have a lip like the jeeps do to keep things from falling out of the vehicle, you must have a drivers side mirror, a latching mechanism and a handle to work it. I made this graphic to see if Scott could add a plate to the doors, have since been sidetracked by various other crap.
As far as I know, this door would be legal about anywhere, and you could fight it in court if you did get a discretionary ticket, since this will do everything the jeeps do.

i know what you mean with the tube doors for 1st gen 4wd Trucks. they are harder to find and i dont have the cash for them. thats why i made half doors. havent had them on the truck yet, with the weather being so iffy, but for about 5 hours in labor, and free for the doors.

that would be a good write up if you had the time, a nice addition to the vault of knowhow here on yotatech. also, it would be cool to see how to do it

WOW, that is pretty cool but i would lack the welding knowledge to attempt a projest like that, i also dont like the idea of altering my existing door hinges like they did.

Here's an old pic of my wife wheelin the old rig with what I had made for my early rig.... Maybe if my arm was twisted I could make you a set with my new Miller 220! I do have a member in my club as well that could make you some at a real reasonable price.
Let me know.

Johnny

Johnny (wildyoats), that would be great!!

i really like the look of the tube doors that joshik photochopped onto a picture of my rig (see photo above in his post)...

do you think you could fabricated me up something like that??

those tube doors joshik photochopped to my rig were from aor4x4.com if you wanted to get a better look at them....

let me know (severe arm twisting) if you could do something like that design and what you would charge for something like that.....

and again thank you for the offer!

Jeff
