Dyno w/ 7th Injector

I finally got around to hooking up the Auterra Palm software and making a few runs this afternoon.

It was about 2:00PM 12/29/03
Temperature: 50F degrees
Dewpoint: 33F degrees
Humidy: 52%
Barometric Pressure: 30.08
Altitude: 0' sea level

All runs were in 2nd gear

Run1
Peak HP = 301 HP
Peak Power RPM = 5300 RPM
Peak Torque = 450 lb/ft
Peak Torque RPM = 3000 RPM

Run2
Peak HP = 298 HP
Peak Power RPM = 5300 RPM
Peak Torque = 495 lb/ft
Peak Torque RPM = 2900 RPM

Run3
Peak HP = 302 HP
Peak Power RPM = 5500 RPM
Peak Torque = 492 lb/ft
Peak Torque RPM = 2900 RPM

I think the torque figures are quite impressive considering the fact that the previous figures were 366 @ 3300 RPM and 379 @ 3200 RPM. Comparing best toi best there is a 24% improvement in peak torque and no change in HP ... according to this software data. Torque is what really matters anyway.

Keep in mind that 99% of my everyday driving is at 45mph or less and I believe that effects the ECU adjustments.

ALSO, I am observing improved performance since I installed the one-step colder NGK plugs gapped at .035", unlike when I did it before the 7th injector installation (gapped at .032") where I observed a loss in performance. I still have the OE fuel pump installed but will be installing the WALBRO 190 ltr/hr pump as soon as it arrives.

Wow, 450 ft/lb is crazy torque, let alone 490 ft/lb.....I wish I had even half that!!! Lucky you

I am starting to think that headers are appropriate now (raise the torque curve slightly) since I don't plan on pulling stumps or racing Dodge Hemi's.

Speaking of Hemis, I am not a Dodge fan at all but their new commercials are hilarious!!!

Hey P,
Glad to hear you had such a drastic improvement.
I am dying to see your rig sometime (maybe next time I am in Boston?)
Anyway, good stuff and keep us posted!

HEHEHEHE......ok maybe a testdrive was what I was hinting at!
I am sure if I do there will be no turing back from getting a S\C.
I will just have to pester my wife silly to get one (unless I can get a smokin deal).

I feel like such a lemmings, but I think it is going to be for the best ... I just finalized my appointment with John Lombardo at IPT in Hanover NJ for a tranny valve body upgrade. I was really impressed with this guy's extremely patient and professional demeanor during our many back and forth e-mail conversations. I am looking forward to the experience and will report my observations when I get back at the end of next week.

It is colder than ... up here right now and for the last few days I have been experiencing a slight difficulty during cold starts. I just put dry gas in because the change from warm-er weather to this single digit crap we are living through was so dramatic, but I wonder if it is related to the 7th injector. Is anyone else having difficulty starting during frigid weather?

Thanks for the offer. Had I seen this thread before I placed the order, I likely would have gone through you
hi,
i was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of how this TRD injector turned out. did it improve the power like it was advertised and was it worth it?
thread link is:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...nso+spark+plug

i came across this thread using the search tool to find out if anyone with a supercharger on a 3.4L was using Denso Iridium spark plugs and if the plugs were worth the $11 per plug price.

thanks for any response.

I am quite happy with the kit so far I have not done any dyno work, so I can't say what kind of increase I got out of it, but it pulls noticeably harder and the pinging is gone

thanks for repsonding.

i am sure the debate on the costs of this injector and how it works will go on. fuel injectors vs S/C injector for either improving performance and curing the ping.

it seems like TRD made a quick fix for the ping eh. i'm a little nervous about feeding fuel down my S/C still...i'm a sucker for more power though.

cheers

After I put in the warbro it made more power top end due to the fact it was not starving for fuel. I just put in the 170 stat . I have not noticed any change. looking at the obd diag the engine runs at 180 average now.
I have iridium plugs gaped a .035 they helped a little with the top end surging .
I do not have any dyno info yet ,but when I get it I will post..

I see quite a few people posting regarding their 7th injector installations and had a quick question regarding tuning. How are you making changes to the new piggyback electronics tied to the ECU? I see lots of other mods, and just trying to figure out how you are adjusting to compensate for those mods? Did TRD provide software to make adjustments or do you have to go back to TRD?

Thanks!

Derrick,
TRD provides NO means for adjusting the TRD ECU's and all they tell you is to remove the intake snorkle, go to a free flow filter and use a one-step colder plug gapped at .032".

The new product that was previewed at SEMA by TRD may lead to the ability to install updates from TRD into the ECU on any vehicle equiped with a SC and SC ECU when those updates become available. It will also allow monitoring of engine parameters. This new product is called Virtual Dash. I spoke with my dealer service manager and his feeling is that it is going to be a l o n g time before Virtual Dash becomes available because TRD keeps jumping from one project to another, depending upon where the $$$ is. Right now they are concentrating on one of the new compact cars like the Matrix and all the kiddy speed options they can make --- ground effects and TRD shift knobs, blah, blah, blah.

BTW, with the 7th Injector kit I get 21 mpg highway opposed to 22 mpg prior to the injector upgrade, so that is not too bad a loss, but my around town driving suffered a 3 mpg loss and that sucks.
