Transmission Leak?

A while back I noticed a very slow leak from the bottom of my 4Runner. It appeared to be coming from the transmission case. My mechanic buddy lifted the truck to get a good look at it, but the leak was too slow and too high on the case to see exactly where it was coming from.
A few days ago while changing my shifter seat I believe I found the source of the leak. On top, where the transmission meets the shifter, from the "block" that is held down by the 4 bolts.
If you look at this picture from 4Runners.org you can see the piece that I am speaking of. The border of the small block that is pretty much the raised opening to the transmission is covered with oil.

Is this an easy fix? Maybe a simple gasket that needs replacing? Has anyone has this problem before? I really do not know much about transmission cases, but the leak seems to be slow. Hoping to fix it myself if possible.

I'll can take some pics and get them up if anyone wants a better look.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, i recently moved about 300 miles from my hometown to go to college and noticed the rear, bottom of my transmission leaking as well. it quit leaking, i checked fluid, was fine and just this last weekend visited (600 miles round trip) i had no issue on the way down but on the way back wouldnt ya know it started leaking again. Mines an automatic, however so i dont know if thats much of a difference or if that part is the same... did you find a resolution to this issue? im going to tear my center console apart and look sometime this week when i have time and ill update then.
