Transmission or brakes feel like their dragging during deceleration
This is a problem I've never seen before. This is a 2002 CC TRD Tacoma w/ 106K. When decelerating (just taking your foot off the accelerator and coasting) at about 30 to 15 miles per hour it feels like something is dragging......... At 15 you feel a release and the truck coasts normally. There is no change in the RPM when this happens. It almost feels like the truck downshifts and at 15 it upshifts. Here's the kicker. When you depress the "O/D off" button it doesn't happen. It only happens when driving in "Normal" mode. There are no codes being thrown.
When accelerating the truck gets to about 30 miles per hour and it feels like there's extra drag (Like the brakes are sticking). If your accelerating hard you don't feel anything, only when you very slightly accelerate. But you always feel the drag when decelerating.
To explain it simply. It feels like you've slightly pulled the e-brake at 30 miles per hour then at 15 miles per hour you release it. But if you push the O/D off button on the shifter it doesn't do it...............................
Thanks for any help.

I have a 99 4Runner Limited and it does the same thing. With mine as you are slowing around 20 or 30mph and you put your foot on the brake it feels like it wants to "free wheel" and actually speed up. I would think its got to be something with the way these transmissions are programmed to shift. I purchased my 4Runner with 106K on it and I now have 127K and its always done it. I have gotten use to it...

I have a 94 4Runner with 188K miles on it, it is doing the same thing. All of the brake parts have been replaced.... Any ideas?
