Totaled 4Runner... Or Not?!
Haha, i had given up on my 4Runner until my friend came and pulled me back to it today. After a couple intense hours of cleaning/splicing/reconnecting we were ready to see what damage the wreck did to the motor/driveline. The hardest part was splicing the wiring harness because the firemen went NUTS with their cable clippers. They cut my positive and negative away from the battery, then went further down the cable to cut halfway through, and finally chopped it off where the harness comes down to one big wire. We finally got ready to turn the key, and it fired right up on its first try! even after sitting for about a month in my backyard. I have a video of the first try and fireup but its boring. SO heres a video of it driving I am very suprised how little a 45MPH roll and backflip did to the 4Runner. It drives just like before, no bounce, no vibrations but it is a bit outa alignment. oh and if you think the drivers side looks fine, its actually sitting at about 90Degrese and the doors are almost as flat as the glass.

Yes, you do. Many times, the vehicle will still drive, but the cosmetic damage will be estimated at higher than what the insurance company thinks your car is worth. I think they should also take in to consideration sentimental value....

haha yeah the sentimental was priceless!
I has liability so i wasnt getting any money no matter what....
And to the make it a wheelin rig, i would love to! BUT im 17, about to get out of debt from the wreck, and i reallllllly need a daily driver. Im kinda thinking about body swap or.... as much as it pains me to say it.... selling it and getting a DD honda.

Body swap if you need dd. As long as the frame is straight and true i think it would be worth keeping. I crashed my first car, 2003 carolla, witnesses said i went over about 8 times, flips and barrel rolls and that car still ran. It was written off though. Ive crashed my 4runner twice, minor trail accidents but it just makes me feel better that i know it can protect me from my flail driving skills

That's pretty wicked. I'd see if the frame is straight, if so, body swap, if not, part it out (or sell to a Toyota wrecker), saving the bits you want.
Can I ask what happened? How did you flip?

I was going like 45MPH going to a freinds house at about 11PM and it was rain/snowing pretty heavy and i was changing cds, i look down to take one out, look back up and theres a deer about 15 feet or so infront of me. Now i know what people will say "keep your eyes on the road and this wont happen" but the amount of time that i actually looked at the CD player was just enough to press a button, i think the deer fell out of a tree or something. But anyways I thought i could go around the deer but it was more towards my side and i went in a ditch going around it, then i hit a driveway and did a backflip, hit on the back passenger corner and bounced up and did 1 or 2 rolls from there. Worst part was nobody came for like 5 minutes and i couldnt find my phone(which ended up being in my pocket...)

It should have a lot of salvage value since it runs good and drives, you could probably sell it on ebay for quite a bit.
Good luck
