Thanks man! I can't wait to get my lift in, the rig is really starting to look mean now

And lemme know when you get the parts together - I'd love to lend a hand as I can and get some understanding of just what all is involved.

I mean... it's only money.

Nice pictures man. So that was in Tinkham? Ive been up there a couple of times, some nice offroading areas and great views. Although last time i went up there (in early May) there was still snow, so i need to go again since it's all melted now.

Actually, my first experience at Tinkham was with my girlfriend after some snowshoeing. I ended up getting stuck while trying to help out a Ford Ranger. Eventually was helped out by some Jeepers coming down the mountain. They explained to me what the "RR diff lock" button on my dash was for

I think I found Yotatech and was "saved" a week or so later, and my life has been irreversibly changed forever

BT17R, as far as the Yotajam this summer, from what I understand, there are a number of different trails of varying difficulty that can be attempted. And based on the people I've wheeled with out here, there is no pressure to try anything you're not ready for, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Certain runs are harder in one direction than the other, there are also bypasses in spots to get around nasty spots you don't want to try.
Mad Chemist, thanks for the reassurance. Yeah, hopefully I won't be leaving parts behind! I was asking for the rating for a visual reference. See, my off-roading brother is already bugging me with "take the 3.5 or higher, otherwise you'll get bored and wish you had". Maybe he's right, or there's a different rating system in Virginia, but I'm wondering what a 3.5 or better looks like. I should add that my brother is no expert (he rolled his Grand Cherokee at the last outing) and here he's trying to advise a noob.

Great photos, they really show the slope well.

Looks like your rig is brand new! I don't have clue about the trail ratings, it also depends on what you're driving. Something that might be easy for a decked out rig might be alot harder for stock.
But, I think there will be a huge range of skils at the yotajam, so we'll all fit in somewhere!

Looks like it was a lot of fun!
I don't plan on doing anything like that so I'll keep my Grille guard. If that ever gets trashed though, I know what I'm getting...

If I can pop in for a bit...

The hill that we did at Tinkham the last two weeks has been rated by someone _well_ in the know (Rob, aka WATRD) as a 3.5. Check some of the pics (and I'm hosting a couple of videos) I have online here:

http://www.midiwall.com/4Runner/dirt/

One thing to mention is that those pics don't really capture the depth of the hill. Two of the guys that came out on the 19th had comments to the effect of "wow, it didn't look like that in the pics from last week!". And I think that's a true statement.

The issue isn't so much the rake of the hill, it's also the depth and placement of the holes. It's an interesting ride.

Anyway... Those pics may or may not help you gauge what a "3.5" run looks like. One thing that may help is that not everyone that came on either of the two trips to Tinkham made it up.

Mark, thanks for the description and AWESOME videos. Hmm, given that my stock rig is heavier, wider, longer and lower than other 'Runners, combined with my noob status, I'll need to rely on Rob's and others advice as to what's doable. The running boards will be off, that's for sure. I need to be a little careful, mine will be for sale soon afterward. Thanks again, I'm pumped for YotaJam!
