TJM & Powder coating

those of you with the TJM`s has the paint on it faded ? i was thinking "when" i get mine, having it powder coated, is that a waste of money ? or would keeping a good coat of wax on it prevent it from fadding ?
thankx

I just got my used TJM from sdastg1 and it was pretty faded. I went with two coats of single stage PPG black and it looks great.

TJM does powder coat them when the build them. Mine was and Robb's was, you can tell if it is hard to grind off the paint. It was on both. Paint comes off really easy, PC does not.

Hmm...evidently they are using crappy powder. You can get them sandblasted and powder coated again but what you want to look for is how good is the company's pretreatment. Where I used to work we used acid for aluminum for an etcher and iron phosphate for iron and had a special sealer for the last stage. Anyways...Tiger Drylac has a line of "super durable" powder that withstands some UV fading and is pretty solid. If you want it to be even more durable to the elements...have them powder coat a clear over it. I'm a powder coater...just my 2 cents

This is about the best one I have:
linex

The linex has faded a bit, but I think they have something to treat it with to help prevent that or restore it. Certainly no rock chips though
