Ok so I am still new but i recently just installed my 3'' OME lift kit with tokico trekmaster shocks. And all I have to say is I love the new look of the 4runner. But now i want some new tires for the truck. I am heading off to college soon so the time I will have available will diminish. I want some tires that will give me something more aggressive look then the 235's I have on there right now. But something that wont make my MPG go down too bad.
I was thinking about BFG AT 33x10.5x15, since i have stock 4runner alloy rims, but as I have been reading more and more threads (using search function to its limit) I hear more and more people say that this will reduce MPG by 2-3, and thats something I am not quite ready for atm. So I am asking for everybody's opinion on what tire size i should go.

285/75/16 would be the coolest but 265/75/16 would be an improvment

 

Yeah, that thing looks like a shopping cart---you need some bigger tires.

You can't avoid the loss of MPG if you're going bigger. No way around it. Since you got a 3" lift, 285's would be the best fit (like Hutchs said), but 265's wouldn't be bad, either.

31 X 10.50s probably. When I selected tires, i chose not to worry about fuel economy and worried more about traction on the trail.

 

give me till thursday and i'll have a picture of my 97 with an ome 3" with the 265/75s i'm currently running. However I'm going to either the 285/75 or 305/70s at the end of the month

 

It's a start, once the 285 goes in, it'll be awesome.

 

Wow, those things look dinky! If it were me, I'd do 285's right off the bat. I did all terrain 265's and have regretted it ever since. I'll be doing Maxxis Bighorns in the 285 flavor when my current tires are shot. Good luck! Here's a pic...

 

285's would be your best bet for looks, but if your that concerned about mileage drop it back down to a 265. I've got 265/75/16's on my Taco, and that woprks out to be about a 32X11 almost. so, go for whatever fits your situation best between looks, and mileage, and price.
