Thanks everyone for the photos... I just order the Thule setup. my next questions is i would like to leave the factory setup and crossbars. Both factory crossbars can be moved foward and back. Any one have any sudjections on how to have both on. Right now i have one factory bar all the way to the rear and the front one all the wa to the front.

This way is if i wanna take the thule off i just quick release it and i'm back to the factory look. Just like keeping it clean looking..

I have both the Yakima & factory bars on mine. I put the Yakima's at the far ends of the luggage rails & kept the factory bars in the middle section.
The factory cross bars provide an extra tie down point when carrying kayaks.

The Yakima bars are really easy to take on/off which is handy for when you don't need them. I'm guessing Thule is similar, I'd suggest getting some locks to make sure it's only you doing the removing.

Enjoy!

I attached my two Thule bike racks directly to my factory load bars. Unfortunately, the only picture I have with me is one I took at night, hopefully you get the idea. I used all of the mounting hardware and purchased some additional t-slot bolts. I removed the front load bar from my runner. I then removed one side of the front load bar, and slid the rubber strip out. This exposed an open t-slot down the length of the bar. I slid the extra t-slot bolts into the load bar, reattached the side and put the whole thing back in the rails. It was then a matter of attaching the bike racks.

dusty98,

I order the locks as well. Yeah i think i'll just slie the factory bars towards the middle then put the thule bars on the ends. Thule has the quick release also on the mounts. So it will be nice to have that factory look after i take that off with the factory rails still in place.

What kayak cradle is everyone using? I have the J-Cradles. There great ecept for getting the boat up there.. haha.. I got the Outrigger II which i the extra arm to help get the boat up. Looking forward to testing that out.

Thule makes the "Rollercoaster" that has rollers on it, and Yakima makes the "Hullyrollers" and "Sweetroll," all of which are designed to make it easier to get it on the roof. A lot of Yakima's accessories are also out-of-the-box compatible with square bars, so that may be worth a look.

thanks Matthew!!

did you have to move the smaller cross bars that touch the roof? See on mine they have rusted a little bit.. The owner before me never moved them to wash or wax under them!!

Just got the thule setup today. Been waiting all week to set it up and offcourse were getting a snow storm!

those that use the fairing. This attaches to the load bars. Do the attachments get in the way if i were to put oon rack attacments like surfboard pads?

Also will the fairing leave a mark on the roof were it rests? I keep the 4ruuner really clean it that matters.
