Leaky Windshield

I had the windshield replaced in my 87 Runner and the whole top of the frame was pretty much rusted out, making it rain harder inside the truck than outside it. I'm just curious if anyone has any tips or tricks for sealing up that area. I was thinking of some sort of expandable foam up there being as I don't have a headliner, but I'm afraid of it expanding and actually pushing the windshield out or breaking it. Any ideas?
