Thrown Rod in '95 4Runner
Hey there,
Threw a rod in my 95 4Runner this weekend. I want to replace the engine rather than just deem it totaled. I want to replace possibly with something a little beefier than the v6 (commute drive has a lot of steep hills) and was seeking some advice for a new engine. Where to look for a solid engine, what to look for, any general tips and advice??

It's just like a Toyota only bigger.
The first attempt at a full sized Toyota truck. After 1996 they started putting 3.4 liter engines in them and if you search the forums on here about 3.4 swaps you will find that the oil pans and control modules from T-100s are used often.

Not only is a T-100 like a Toyota, it IS a Toyota.
The Toyota T-100 truck was larger than their regular "mini-truck", which was Toyota's introduction into the "full size" truck market preceding the Toyota Tundra. However, the T-100 would probably be considered mid-size truck today. I have never owned a vehicle with the 5VZ-E 3.4L engine, but I hear nothing but great things on this forum about it.
