remeber, the cable only moves the throtle 1/4 turn. if it turned it any more, it would begin to close.

Joeyz is right that the throttle plate only turn 90˚ to open fully, but if you want to adjust it:

You should see on top of the plenum the throttle cable is held by piece of metal with a nut on each side. If you tighten the nut (clockwise) closest to the throttle body (you'll need to loosen the other side first) you will loosen the throttle cable. If you tighten (CW) the furthest nut you will tighten the throttle cable. Just make sure you are tightening the throttle cable and not the transmission kickdown cable.

03TundraTRD:

Not sure where I read this but I do remember something about Toyota buildling the TB plate that way. Something about at WOT, it's not fully open. I think if you do a search here you'll find a reason why they don't open 100% at WOT.

If it's not here then it's on 4x4wire...

Sorry to bring up such old thread but was wondering if this works for 86 4 runner? My throttle cable is very loose. Lots of play in it. When I step on the gas pedal it takes a while before it actually starts to rev up the engine. Does the cable need to be adjusted or just replaced?

Thanks
