Three child seats in a 3rd Gen. 4Runner?

I am thinking about buying a 2000-2001 4runner, but I need to be able to put 3 child seats in it. Has anyone accomplished this? What brands of child seats are you using? Thanks.

depending on the kind of child seats. i've got 2 in there now, one booster and one toddler...soon to be a booster.

in a pinch, yes you can do 3 wide, but it will be tight. if they're all boosters, you'll have to do the seatbelting, as the belt anchors will be buried in between the seats. find the narrowest ones you can. boosters are the narrowest while the infant clip in's are the widest.

...or you can do what i just did and get an 80 series land cruiser. 3rd row seats. going 3 wide in an 80 series is alot easier as well..since the rear seat girth is a good 4+ inches wider...

I can do three boosters in a row - not too bad. When I did 1 full car seat and 2 boosters it was a pain to get all three buckled - they fit fine, but you had to get the middle kid all buckled before you put the last booster seat in. I think I tried 2 car seats and 1 booster and it didn't fit.

My 87 4Runner was cool in that as it didn't have a passenger airbag, I could put a kid up there - but now Washington State has changed the law and if there is a back seat available, the kid has to use it.

Hople that helped

Sunshine kids Radian 65 for kids 5 to 65# is narrow enough for 3 in a row-without cramming. The following threads have pics and measurements. They also have one for 80# but more costly with identical dimensions so unless you've got a little football player...
Anyway, the kiddo says it's comfortable, he doesn't complain even through the 10+ hour drives we sometimes take.
