Thought I'd share...
A couple of weeks ago, my blower fan stopped working. I couldn't use my A/C anyway because of a hole in the suction hose, but the vent and the defrost were especially helpful down here in sunny (rainy) Florida. I searched the board and got some really helpful info from Corey, Roger B., aka 4crawler, and I think there was a post or a link in there somewhere from Bob in the threads I searched. I had replaced the blower resistor because one of the coils was broken and the fan seemed weak on high, but it didn't make the fan work. I started checking along the blower motor path and the fuses and relay checked out fine and I got 12V all the way to the motor. Then I decided I'd pull the motor. I spent half the day trying to get the screws out with a ratchet and when that didn't work, I started searching the board again. Found Bob's write up about using a screwgun with a flexible neck and bit. Went out today and, God forbid, the damn motor dropped right out. I took the silver plate off where the brushes are and all of this brown crap that looked like worm dirt fell out. My commutator was toast and all that was left of my brushes was the springs. I'm supposing the lack of good contact is why the fan quit working. Anyway, I'm going to try to find a good motor and replace mine. I'll get the brushes from Roger if the ones in the replacement motor are no good. I hope this helps someone trying to troubleshoot the same problem. I'm pretty sure the motor is the original just by looking at the wear. Not bad for an 89 that's lived it's whole life in Florida.
