Mine are Yellow with a Blue boot. Maybe they are not the HDs. Here are the part numbers of mine. Shocks: Front, Bilstein F4-BE5-2450-HO. Rear, Bilstein F4-BE5-2451-HO. (Yellow Body and Blue Boot)
They are firm but not harsh. They most deffinitly don't ride like a Cadillac. I didn't buy a Toyota to ride like a Cadillac.

I have the adjustable bilsteins on the front of my 02 4runner and they feel just a tad bit firmer on the street. If barley at all firmer. Where you feel it is when you take a corner kind of hard. She doesn't roll as bad as she did before. I just need to get the matching one for the back now. And I believe they are the 5125s?

How would that make my ride any softer? That will just LOWER my 4runner. My buddy has the same lift with ProComp ES 3000's front and rear and his ride is way smother. Don't for get I have a 2wd and I don't have to worry about driveline angles etc. If I had a 4x4 I'd reconsider.

I have PP Springs and the Bils - guess what - I wanted my ride stiff. Why you ask? For cruising on the parkways (handles great) as well as hauling wood/sand/stone/misc in my trailer.

I have the silver 5125 ones. I think they are 8" and 8.5" travel. My add a leaf spring in the back is rated for 3" lift. I put the shocks on and they were short by about an inch. The axle and leaf springs hung down by about an inch more when fully extended. With the shocks and with the 3" leaf spring, the ride became extremely rough. The rear would almost skip around.
I have recently ordered the 10" 5150 shocks with the 170/60 valving. I'm hoping that the extra length will accommodate for the travel and the lower valving will smooth out the bumpy ride. They will be here in 3-4 days
In the mean time, I have some 5125 8 & 8.5 inch shocks that are about 6 months old for sale. First $100 takes them.

I have the HD bilsteins on my Tundra, and they were highly recommended from a local repair shop. I've had them on for 1 year and have no problem with them. I am very pleased with the ride, but I have alot of tools and equipment in the bed, plus a fiberglass cap which may smooth out the ride.

Hello guys
I just wanted to send a word out there about the billies... I just installed the 2405+2451 in my 96 limited runner after extensive review of different discussion boards about this topic. The general consensus was that these were one of the best choices for this type of truck. Some admitted they preferred a smoother ride and recommended other brands... and only in a few instances some guys complained bout them for being stiff leading to harsh driving... Honestly, here we are talking about a 4Runner which is for the most part an offroad vehicle... granted, a few soccer moms may prefer to drive a runner to soccer practice on a snowy road... wait... there's no soccer practice in the snow!!! hehe... anyways, it's perfectly valid to prefer a smooth ride if you are not into the whole offroad fun. But, after installing the new shocks in my own rig, I can assure you, the bilstein shocks are excellent! I don't understand why people say they are harsh or stiff they are really nice and driving the truck now is a real pleasure. If you are looking to replace your shocks, don't hesitate and get the billies.

I'm in agreement with you cox380. Yes I do see the thread is old.
I had the heavy duty Bilsteins on my 99 4wd Runner and they were way too harsh with the stock 99 (not tall) springs. That was even with my ARB bumper up front.
I have since changed to Old Man Emu shocks and springs and the ride is significantly smoother yet still truck-like.
Spacers in general -only from what I have read-make the ride harsh.
The rest of the folks chiming in have a variety of spring and shock combos. Everyone's butt is entitled to their opinion on what is harsh, too harsh, soft, too soft. Very hard to compare apples to apples with so many combos available.
What works well with one set of springs may not work well with another. I am not sure that the Bilstein HDs are designed for use with the Tundra springs you are running.
I had similar (but different) Bilstein HDs on my 95 Runner (2nd gen) and it improved that ride incredibly with stock springs. Like night and day.
